We follow the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice when supporting children with additional needs and their families. Our SENCO (Special Educational Need’s Co-Ordinator) is Kimberley who has completed training in all aspects of special educational needs. She is supported by Rose who is her SENCO buddy.
The role of a SENCO is to:
- Ensure all practitioners in the setting understand their responsibilities to children with special educational needs and the nursery’s approach to identifying and meeting needs.
- Advising and supporting colleagues.
- Ensuring parents are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform action taken by the nursery.
Liaising with professionals or agencies beyond the nursery.
