Supporting Children with Additional Needs

We follow the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice when supporting children with additional needs and their families. Our SENCO (Special Educational Need’s Co-Ordinator) is Kimberley who has completed training in all aspects of special educational needs. She is supported by Rose who is her SENCO buddy.
The role of a SENCO is to:

  • Ensure all practitioners in the setting understand their responsibilities to children with special educational needs and the nursery’s approach to identifying and meeting needs.
  • Advising and supporting colleagues.
  • Ensuring parents are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform action taken by the nursery.

Liaising with professionals or agencies beyond the nursery.
If you are worried about any aspect of your child’s development please speak to your child’s key person, Kimberley, Rose or Joanne who will be happy to discuss your concerns.
